Bee Hive

The proposal is a honeycomb-like timber structure, which fits as an independent and in the same time unifying element into the existing gap between the Tahititornin Vuori park and the southwestern edge of the South Harbor. Large scale and differently designed openings allow the focused view in which the environment presents itself as a constantly changing movie. For the observer from the outside makes this concept the museum operations and functions visible and tangible. The chambers can be freely combined with each other. There is a central path through the museum, but visitors are also free to choose their way through the exhibitions. As a protection against the weather is the outer surface covered with green oxidized copper plates. This durable and not maintenance demanding material can also be found on rooftops in the close neighborhood. Interior surfaces are covered with large-scale birch wood boards.
